Scottish Enterprise Supports Axis Energy Projects 06/06/2014

After 5 years of sustained growth Axis Energy Projects has been rewarded with backing from Scottish Enterprise, Scotland’s main economic development agency.

Axis is a company of expert structural engineers, naval architects and projects managers specializing in the provision of innovative, low cost mooring and fluid transfer systems for use in Early and Tail End Production, Marginal Fields, and Extended Well Test Fluid Export Systems.

Scottish Enterprise focuses its support on companies with high growth potential, particularly in innovation and international markets.

Innovation is central to Axis’ company mission and following extensive research and development, ongoing since 2011, Axis was granted an international patent for the Axis Mooring System in early 2014.

Supporting its growth ambition, Scottish Enterprise is now working intensively with Axis through account management to help position them at the forefront of the international moorings and fluid transfer market.

Mark Georgeson, Scottish Enterprise Account Manager for Axis said, “We are delighted to be supporting Axis at such an exciting time for the company.

“International expansion is an exciting prospect for any company, and Axis is no exception.  Its new technology backed up by years of experience together with its forward thinking, innovative and ambitious leadership team sets it in good stead to realise its long term growth ambition.

“We can provide expert advice on doing business in all of the world’s economic hubs, something crucial to Axis’ growth as they further expand their interests in the Far East, Western Australia and West Africa.”

The Axis Mooring System is a lean, low cost mooring system which is simple, safe and easy to install. It is disconnectable and fully weathervaning with good wear characteristics making it suitable for Extended Well Tests export system offtake tankers, FSO and FPSO services.

In FPSO service the system can easily accommodate 3 10” production risers and a control signal umbilical. The ease of disconnection and reconnection also make it ideally suited to hurricane and typhoon areas.

As well as their focus on becoming providers of choice for moorings and fluid transfer systems the team at Axis also lend their expertise to supporting the offshore construction industry and deepwater developments.

John Baross, Founder and Managing Director of Axis said, “We have worked hard over the past 5 for organic, sustainable growth and it is deeply rewarding to be recognised as an innovative company expanding onto the global stage with support from Scottish Enterprise.

“Since 2011 we have achieved the majority of the milestones in our company mission, including gaining ISO 9001 accreditation, owning our own equipment with the capacity for two full EWT fluid export systems, deploying that equipment to successfully complete a turnkey EWT in 2013, and being granted a patent on our own mooring technology.

“With the help of Scottish Enterprise we now intend to take our knowledge, experience and patented technology to the global marketplace meaning we will increase our turnover and further expand our team.”

Axis has already employed 6 new members of staff in the past year with another 2 planned for the coming months. The level of their ambition is matched by their steadfast commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
