Axis Energy Projects Awarded Certification to ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 10/04/2015

Axis Energy Projects has been awarded certification to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management system standards.

The certification affirms our commitment to running an effective business management system encompassing quality management (ISO 9001), environmental management and occupational health and safety management systems.

Axis Energy Projects opted to pursue certification to these standards to support our expanded scope of supply which includes the turnkey provision of mooring and fluid transfer systems for stabilised crude, including EWT export systems.  We also specialise in the provision of low cost mooring and fluid transfer solutions to the floating production industry, particularly applicable in a low oil price environment, supported by our patented mooring and fluid transfer system technology.

Through ISO 14001 we are better able to manage our energy use and reduce waste, and improve efficiency in running the business, whilst demonstrating compliance to expand our business opportunities, affirm customer trust and prepare for the increasingly competitive business landscape.

Through OHSAS 18001 we are able to create the best possible working conditions for our employees by identifying hazards and putting controls in place to manage them.  The control of hazards which have the potential to cause workplace accidents and illness is critical to the equipment rental and offshore elements of the business.  As a result of our certification we are demonstrating compliance with the demands of the marketplace, as well as motivating our staff with better, safer working conditions.

The certification process was led by Axis Energy Projects’ Management System Representative, Ross MacAskill, who only having spent a couple of years in the industry has successfully maintained a record of zero major or minor non conformities in external audits for ISO 9001, and now has successfully built both 14001 and 18001 systems from the ground up, and achieved certification to both standards in a very short space of time.

Managing Director, John Baross, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded both 14001 and 18001 certification and to have maintained our spotless ISO 9001 record.

“It comes at a time when we are working hard to align our strategy to the needs of our customers and certification to these standards gives us an added advantage when tackling the challenges facing independent businesses at this time.  It instils confidence in our current and prospective clients, and our suppliers, that our services are safe, efficient and environmentally controlled.”

The BSI auditor for 14001 and 18001 commented on the “absolute commitment” of the Managing Director in “achieving consistency of approach in a controlled manner” resulting in continuous improvement. He further commented that John’s “commitment and enthusiasm towards management systems was palpable” and this has been communicated to the staff who are fully engaged.

Axis Energy Projects will now carry this momentum into forthcoming tasks, including a restructuring exercise which will take place later this year. This, coupled with the planned appointment of respected industry figures to the Board of Directors, will position us to increase our capacity and scope of supply and to achieve the next step in our business plan. In the meantime we continue to provide engineering and management support to the offshore construction, floating production and decommissioning industries despite the current economic challenges.

Axis Energy Projects has been certified by BSI to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 under certificate numbers EMS 630622, OHS 630623
